Marcelina Santana-Sanchez
Age 90, of Hobart went home to her savior on Friday March 3, 2023. Marcelina was born on August 14, 1932, in, Puerto Rico to her mother, Bonifacia (nee Alicea) Santana and father, Adolfo Santana. Marcelina was a dedicated member of Latin Pentecostal Church of God in Lake Station. She enjoyed writing poems and spending time with her family. She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, cousin, and friend.
Marcelina is survived by her son, Hector R. Nussa; three daughters, Marissa (Frank) Romero, Jacqueline (Eric) Hugar and Abigal (Asael) Rivera; five grandchildren, Edwardo (Gisela) Otero, David (Sara) Otero, Nathaniel (Sandi) Otero, Jasmine (Jose) Nater, and Jonathan Hugar and ten great-grandchildren, Joshua Otero, Zarina Otero, Clark Otero, Emmette Otero, Micah Otero, Gabrian Otero, Vera Otero, Asa Otero, Amelia Nater, and Joseph Nater and other loving family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Epifanio, Felipe and Esteban Santana, and two sisters, Isabel Cruz and Angelina Rosario.
A funeral service for Marcelina will be held Thursday, March 9, 2023, at 11:00 am, with Pastor Eliu Martinez at Rees Funeral Home, 5341 Central Ave. Portage, Indiana 46368. Burial at McCool Cemetery, Portage, Indiana will follow. Visitation will be held Thursday, March 9, 2023, from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service, also at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel. A beautiful soul has left this earth. I have so many wonderful memories of Marcie. I loved her smile, her generous heart, the taste of her cooking and the way she cared for and loved her children, grandchildren and great grand-children.
