Funeral for Marcella Burney will be Friday, April 5, 2013, at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Town Creek with Bro. Rickey Gilley officiating and Elliott Funeral Home directing. Burial will be in Providence Cemetery. Visitation will be tonight from 6 to 8 at the church.
Mrs. Burney, who died Tuesday, April 2, 2013, was born April 14, 1930, in Lauderdale County to Oscar C. Copeland and Ruth Hope Stanley Copeland. She was a faithful member of First Baptist Church. She was an accomplished artist, kind hearted and always willing to help those in the community. She was also an accomplished horse trainer and shower. Her son, Clifford Burney, preceded her in death.
Survivors include her husband of 64 years, A.R. Burney; two sons, Steve Burney and wife, Beckey, and Philip Burney and wife, Joan; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; three step grandchildren; two nieces and five nephews.
