Marcella Faye Ihrig Speer of Nashville, passed away on October 13, 2015, just six days short of her 87th birthday.
Faye was raised in Kentucky, the daughter of a Nazarene pastor. She attended Trevecca College in Nashville where she met the love of her life, Brock Speer. She joined him in the Speer Family when they married in 1948. She left to raise three children who survive her, Suzan, Marc and Brian. She rejoined the group in the 60s and again the 80s. After Brock became too ill to travel, she stayed at home with him until his passing. Afterwards. she then filled her time with things like volunteering at Vanderbilt Hospital holding and loving the critically ill newborn babies. She was diagnosed with ALS in 2013 and finally received her promotion to join her husband, sister and parents in glory on October 13, 2015.
Visitation on Wednesday, October 14, 2015 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., at Woodlawn-Roesch-Patton Funeral Home, 660 Thompson Lane, Nashville, TN 37204.
Visitation on Thursday, October 15, 2015 from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m., and Memorial service at 2 p.m., at First Church of the Nazarene, 510 Woodland Street, Nashville, TN 37206.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Trevecca Nazarene University's Speer Family Music Scholarship.

I am so sad as I learn of the passing of our friend, Fay Speer. My condolences to Marc, Suzan, Brian and their families. A songwriter, Marc produced some demos for me, and as a promoter, I included the SPEER FAMILY in a Kings Mountain, NC concert in 1996. They were celebrating 75 years singing for the Lord. How beautiful heaven must be with Brock and Fay together again. They were precious, precious people.

loved the Speer family but had special compassion as Faye went thru ALS as my own mother's first cousin died from that disease and also am now losing my mother to Alzheimers so can greatly empathize with so much know you went thru-had attended as young as small child the Singing Speer Family when at Houston Music Hall when I was a child-lifelong fan of such a wonderful group of family and singers-my deepest sympathy to all of the family and friends in this loss here but rejoice for Faye to be Home in Heaven. Loved the story of hymn singing by her bed and the anointing of her by each of family present. Know she knew and was so blessed as was the family doing it. God help you all as you miss her presence now.

I am devastated to hear of Faye's passing. I have such a long friendship with the family, that I feel like one of my immediate family has passed on to her Heavenly reward. My heart goes out to the entire Speer Family.

I loved the Speer family and loved when Faye was singing. She had an awesome voice. Now her and Brock are singing with Bro. and Sister Speer in the heavenly home. My prayers are with all of you, Ben and Rosa Nell thinking of you.

What an blessing to life Fay Speer was and may her legacy live on. So thankful that the Lord gave Fay such a wonderful talent of singing and that she used that talent to spread the word of the Lord to this world.
