Not sure what to say?

I was a student of Mrs. Gillis at both Wilson J.H.S. AND West Meck('87). When I was her student at Wilson, I took Pre-Algebra. When I was at West Meck, it was Algebra I. I was never really good or comfortable with mathmatics,BUT Mrs. Marcia Gillis taught me that NOTHING is impossible if you use good clear logic when applying yourself to ANYTHING(not just "math"). As a matter of fact, even to THIS DAY, when I have to use my "thinking cap" to sort through the day's work(which uses constant...

Dear Family,

I was so sad to hear of Mrs. Gillis' passing. She was such a great teacher, expecting the very best from each one of her students. She encouraged me so much and really knew how to teach and discipline.
Know that I will be praying for you during this time and any student who had Mrs. Gillis will never forget her.

I would like to send my condolences to the entire Gillis family. Mrs.Gillis was a wonderful, wonderful teacher. Like many of her students, I was apprehensive about being in her class, but after having her for a teacher and a National Honor Society advisor, I realized that she wasn't bad at all. Her style of teaching is really hard to find, but it was a style that molded me to be the woman I am today. Mrs. Gillis will always hold a special place in my heart. She will be greatly...

I would to send my sincere prayers to the Gillis Family. I worked with Marcia at West and she taught my daughter. She was a talented teacher and knew her math.May God comfort you in your loss.

On behalf of all the members of Covenant United Methodist Church I wish to convey our sympathy and care in Marcia's death. It was a privilege to minister to your family today. I thank God for the people who took part in this service by sharing the ways in which Marcia touched them with her faith and strength.

May God's presence touch each of you with a deep, inner peace in the days ahead.

I did not know Marcia personnally. I am an educator also and Marcia was
well known in her discipline, math.
My thoughts are with the family.
She will be missed.

I am so saddened to hear of Marcia's passing...it is hard to believe that so many years have passed since we were sitting in church together as children and then as young adults. While I don't know Marcia's adult family, the words that I am reading make me smile. I do know Mr. and Mrs. Townsend and Debbie. My heart hurts for all of you.

To the Gillis family:

I was so saddened to hear of Marcia's untimely passing. She truly was an incredible person. Tommy, I worked with your Dad at Lakewood Substation, Duke Energy. Your family has always been so very special to me and I will forever hold onto these memories. I remember when your first child was born. Mr. Gillis was so proud of his grandson. Hold onto your memories and a part of Marcia will always live on. Heaven has become a little sweeter with the presence of Marcia....

Dear Family,
Mrs. Gillis taught me while i was at West Mecklenburg. She challenged me like no other and pushed me to do my best. I didn't really appreciate everything she did for me until after i graduated. She was an amazing woman who did so much for so many. She will be missed. Your family will be in my heart!
