Marcia was a very special person. She was loved by all of her students at White Bear Lake High School. She could never be angry at her students. She was the only teacher I knew that could be your friend as well as your teacher. She always looked out for her students. I will always remember what I said to her on graduation day 1996, "Mrs. Wellstone, you were always my favorite teacher". She had that big smile and that touched look in her eyes and gave me a big hug. I will always remember that...

Marcia was a huge part of my life. She was my best friend and like a sister to me. I cannot imagine my life without her. Her beautiful smile, her kindness and willingness to always help others. I am blessed to have been so close to her. She is my angel now and I have wonderful memories that I will keep close within my heart forever. I love Todd and the kids and my husband and I will forever be there for them no matter what.

My heartfelt condolences go out to the families, friends, and students of Marcia Wellstone Markuson. I had the privilage of knowing Marcia through the White Bear Lake high school that she taught at. My two sons both had Marcia as a spanish teacher. My son said, "Profe is the best teacher I ever had". Marcia, the world needs more people like you. She is truly an inspiration to so many people both young and old. Thank you for being you! The world is a better place because of you. We will...

Our thoughts and prayers are with Marcia's family -- you have all lost such a unique woman, and my heart aches for you all. Marcia was our son's Spanish teacher at South Campus, and meeting her at conference time showed me why she had such an impact on her students. She was so energetic and excited about life. Our son and his good friend helped Marcia pack the U-Haul when she moved from White Bear to Apple Valley, they babysat for her, and she even had the Spanish class to her house for a...

I knew Marcia a little in high school, though we were in different social circles. She was always very sweet to me, and we sometimes shared notes from the classes we had together. My memory of her is that, though she was in the "in" crowd and I was decidedly not, she didn't let that determine our relationship. I liked and respected her for not succumbing to the social pressures of high school. She always thought for herself.
To my mind, we had an unlikely friendly acquaintence....
