Not sure what to say?

I was Marcia's student at PCC from Fall 1973 through Spring 1975-following the lead of my brother Pete (who was her student from 1972 to 1974). Mademoiselle Marvin was a great teacher and her students responded with attention and enthusiasm. She always looked for ways to expose us to extracurricular French stuff-a classroom visit from a young man who'd just returned from Paris; a performance of French songs by PCC voice instructor Sue McBerry on texts we'd studied in class; and always La...

I met Marcia in 1965 while we were both at the University of Oregon. She was looking for a person to share costs of an apartment and so was I. And, as the French say, voilà ! Thus we became room-mates for a year and so began a friendship that has lasted over the past 60 years. We would visit each other no matter where we lived and shared long conversations via letters. She once spent a week with me near Glasgow when I was living in Scotland, and then came to see me in California and...

We went to Beach together and Jefferson High. Remember staying overnite at her house in grade school and birthday parties.

I don´t remember how or when I met Marcia, but we spent many hours working together on her house and yard. She taught me a lot about gardening-I still think of her when I am puttering in my own yard. She taught me the correct way to pull weeds ("shake the dirt off"), rototill a cover crop-just not fava beans-and how to keep squirrels from invading a bird feeder. The picture of Marcia is appropriate-a strong, solitary woman, strong and kind. She will be missed.

Marcia was a good friend in high school. We reconnected a bit for a couple of years not too long ago. She was caring, smart, tough and sweet...a great human being.
