Sanders Funeral Home - Smithfield Obituary

Marcus Scott Badgett peacefully returned to his heavenly home on August 31, 2022. His love for his family and his belief in God provided comfort as he transitioned from this world. Marcus was born on February 9, 1970, to Lendsey Badgett (Sandra) and Maylene Badgett. Marcus graduated in 1988 from Elizabeth High School in Elizabeth, New Jersey. After graduation, he attended the University of Maryland, College Park where he was a stellar student-athlete. He proudly wore the number 88 as he stormed the field as a fierce and strategic wide receiver. During that time, Marcus was awarded the distinguished title of the Most Valuable Player as a Maryland Terrapin. For many years, Marcus was the supervisor at a housing development in Las Vegas where he secured safe housing for many in the community. Marcus loved his family, and he never met a stranger. His heart was genuine, and he would seek to speak life into everyone he met. Marcus would give someone the "shirt from his back." We know that he touched everyone that he met. Marcus dedicated his life to his family and church in Las Vegas, Nevada. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Elissa Cheng-Badgett. Marcus and Elissa shares three beautiful children Victoria, Brittany, and Quincy. Marcus dedicated his life to providing for his children. He loved them with all that was within him. He was proud of the amazing people they are growing up to be. Marcus encouraged his children to strive to reach their goals and to be grateful for each day. Marcus leaves to cherish his memory three brothers, Rickey Badgett (Marva), Timothy Badgett (Asia) and Ronald Dove (Aliya). He also leaves two Uncles, five aunts, several beloved cousins, and other cherished family members and friends. Marcus also shared his life with a special friend, Darla. https://www.tributeslides.com/tributes/show/QMCDCTCFMP2RXYLN?e=1 Visitation Wednesday, September 07 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM Sanders Funeral Home Chapel 806 E Market St Smithfield, NC 27577 (919) 934-8416 Funeral Service Wednesday, September 07 11:00 AM Sanders Funeral Home Chapel 806 E Market St Smithfield, NC 27577 (919) 934-8416 Interment Wednesday, September 07 Forest Hill Clayton, NC 27520
