Marcus Gayle Newman (April 10, 1985 – August 19, 2020 )

Marcus Gayle Newman, Sr., AKA, Golden Child,35, was born April 10, 1985 at St. John’s Hospital, Springfield, Illinois to the late John “Ricky” Newman and Delores Newman. Marcus departed this life on Wednesday, August 19, 2020 at his residence.

Marcus attended St. Patrick’s Elementary School, George Washington Middle School and graduated from Southeast High School. Marcus was a member of St. Paul A.M.E. Church. Marcus attended and graduated from Leonard’s Barbara College, St. Louis, MO. He was self-employed as a master barber for 15 years at Trim Setters Barber Studio in Springfield, IL. He loved spending time with his family, listening to and writing music and playing the lottery. 

Marcus was preceded in death by his father, John “Ricky” Newman, grandfather, Robert Newman,grandmother, Linnie Belle Newman great grandmother, Mary Stewart, aunts, Gail Newman, Ruthann Okafor, Debra Alexander, Harriet Marshall; uncle, Robert Newman.

Marcus leaves to cherish his memory, two sons, Kayden Newman, Marcus Newman Jr., and newborn daughter, MacKenzley Faye Newman; mother, Delores Newman, grandmothers, Iner Marshall, Sarah Newman; three brothers, Leonard V. (Sharri) Day of St. Louis, MO, Aaron Day and Sean (Grace) Newman of Springfield, IL; two sisters, DeAnna Newman of Springfield, IL and Dawn (DeShawn) Lasker of Houston, TX.; uncles, Layfette (Carolyn) Turner, Michael (Malissa) Newman,Terry (Nigella) Graham; aunts, Gail Marshall, Linda Bryant and Toni Newman; special nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of loving friends and clients.
