MARGARET ELIZABETH (DUNCAN) BASTIN Georgia died Sunday April 2, 2006 in Georgia.

Known to her friends and family as “Peg”, she had a lifelong love affair with the arts and spent much of her time painting. She graduated with honors in art from Michigan’s Cass Tech, studied at the Detroit Institute of Art, worked privately with such notables as Mary Davis and Helen Greene and moved effectively from a successful career in commercial fine art to fine arts. Her long-favored subject matter was land/seascapes, wildlife and florals. Her work is on display in Jack Kingston’s off ice in Washington, D.C., the Georgia State Capitol Building and in a number of private collections. She was also the First Prize winner in a coastal Georgia for the Arts Juried Show.

She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Edward J. Bastin of St. Simons Island, GA, 2 Sons and their wives, John Dennis & Carole Bastin of Lakeville, MN and Dr. Jeffrey & Ann Bastin of Sturgis, MI, 1 Daughter and her husband, Lynda Jean & Larry Howard of Farmington Hills, MI, 6 Grandchildren, Derek Bastin, Steven Bastin, Jennifer Dixon, Christy Trepkowski, Greg Bastin and Nichole Bastin and 3 Great Grandchildren.

A gathering of friends and family will take place from 11:00 A.M. – 1:00 P.M. Saturday April 15, 2006 at the HACKMAN-Foglesong Funeral Home of Sturgis.
