Margaret Corriher Obituary
May 20, 1929 - February 4, 2022
Margaret Whitley Corriher, 92, of China Grove, passed away Friday, Feb. 4, 2022, at Atrium Health – Cabarrus Medical Center.
Born in Rowan County May 20, 1929, she was the daughter of the late John Adam Whitley and Elizabeth McDaniel Whitley. In addition to her parents, Margaret was also preceded in death by five brothers and four sisters-in-law, John (Jean), Joe (Helen), Paul (Bobbie), Bill and Charles (Peggy) Whitley; one grandchild, Charlotte Rae Corriher; and one stepgrandchild, Ariel Bryant.
Margaret was a graduate of Boyden High School – class of 1948. She was a member of Mt. Zion United Church of Christ, where she had taught Sunday school and was a member of the China Grove Landis Pilot Club. Mrs. Corriher worked alongside her husband, as owners and operators of Corriher Sand & Stone Company and Corriher Trucking Company.
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband of 68 years, Harold Ray Corriher; two sons, Glenn Ray Corriher (Angie) and Bryan Whitley Corriher (Tia); one daughter, Darvia Corriher Hodge (Charles); and sister-in-law, Lorene R. Whitley. She is further survived by her grandchildren, Justin D. Hodge (Megan), Carlton H. Corriher (Ashtyn), Brooke D. Corriher (Ryan Lewis) and Bailey D. Corriher; two stepgrandchildren, Josh Simmons (Emily) and Trevor Simmons (Michelle); great-grandchild, Noah Hodge; and stepgreat-grandchild, Logan Simmons.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 9, at Mt. Zion United Church of Christ. A funeral service will begin at 2 p.m., with the Rev. Larry Bolick officiating. A burial is to follow at West Lawn Memorial Park.
Memorial donations may be made to Mt. Zion United Church of Christ – New Construction Fund, 1415 S Main St., China Grove, NC 28023; the China Grove Landis Pilot Club; BRAG – Blowing Rock Assembly Grounds in Boone; or to John's River Valley Camp in Lenoir.
