MARGARET DARR-MOFFETT Obituary

Margaret Irene Darr-Moffett, beloved by her family, her students, and her many friends, died in her sleep at her home on Tuesday, January 18, 2011, after an honorable and stubbornly-fought altercation with Time. The richness of Margaret's life is testament to her many talents, her energy, and her intelligence. Born on December 16, 1906, in Forest Park, Illinois, she married Francis M. Darr of Milan, Missouri, in July of 1928, bearing him two sons whom she prepared well for life. Margaret, a champion swimmer and outstanding all-around athlete with a gift for teaching, taught physical education, water ballet, and other skills at the French Institute Notre Dame de Sion in Kansas City. Margaret also worked in several capacities at the Kansas City Board of Trade, including secretary-treasurer of a local micronutrient company, and was active in volunteer services for the Red Cross. Widowed for sixteen years, she subsequently married Charles C. Moffett in May of 1973, with whom she found a second happiness, and who preceded her in death by 22 years. Margaret is survived by her youngest son, William J. Darr of Bethel Park, PA, daughters-in- law Geneva Fournier Darr and Barbara Dillon Darr, and by her many talented grand- and great-grand-children. Visitation will be 5-7, Friday, at the McGilley Midtown Chapel, 20 W. Linwood Blvd., KCMO. Funeral Services will be 11:00, Saturday at Christ The King Catholic Church. Interment at Forest Hill Calvary Cemetery. McGilley Midtown Chapel, 816-753-6200. McGilley Midtown Chapel, 20 W Linwood Blvd, Kansas City, MO 64111, 816-753-6200

Bill and Geneva, We are so sorry to hear about your loss. The loss of such a "young" lady. God's mercies are new every morning. May you feel His comfort, peace, and strength as you continue your care for her. Big hug to both of you! Lovingly,

It is a great loss, this is a Lady, that I took Communion to for over three years.
Every Sunday I would see her and pray with her. Then as she started to have
physical problems, I became more involved with her. Through it all she always had her to be sure that what ever was going on, she had to be in control. I can only hope that my life could be just a portion of hers. " Rick Sturm SFO " KCMO.

Although I there is always a feeling of sadness to hear the loss of a special person, I will find it in myself to remain with a smile with I think of Princess Darr. She was a very special patient that in 1.5 years of taking care of her frequently found an immediate love for.

My thoughts and prayers to the family through their time of grief. Many happy memories will be held dear to your hearts.

It is with great sadness that I read of Margaret's death. I was one of those many students she taught swimming to at Notre Dame de Sion. Later my sisters and I took lessons at the KCAC - it was always a great adventure traveling downtown to go swimming. While a strict teacher I know I learned a lot from her.

My thoughts and prayers are with you as you go through this difficult time. May the memories she created with you only bring you joy.
