'Best Summer of Her Life'
This was the plan: run in the New York Marathon and get out of town. Getting out of town would actually come first for Margaret Echtermann. She was 33, a former upstate New York girl living in Hoboken, and was pleased that her firm, Regus, was relocating her to Boston in two weeks.

Tall and athletic, with long blonde hair, Ms. Echtermann had been exceptionally happy this month. "You could tell it was the best summer of her life," said her older sister, Heidi Echtermann. "She had fallen in love with this guy. She had taken a summer house out in the Hamptons and they had an amazing summer. Her birthday is in August. They celebrated Margaret's birthday every single night."

Margaret Echtermann worked on the 93rd floor of 2 World Trade Center. Heidi works at Lehman Brothers, across the street. Margaret spoke to her sister after the first plane struck and told her she was fine, then called her parents in Barneveld, a small town north of Utica, and told them the same. Then she called a friend, who recognized Margaret's phone number on her caller ID, but heard nothing. That was the moment of impact, her sister thinks.

Not sure what to say?

20 yrs ago today I had a long walk home remembering our best summer ever, Hamptons Share house, weekends to see our boyfriends in Martha´s Vineyard & picnics in Central Park during the Philharmonic performance. The big old Crown Vic that we drove every weekend to our destinations of fun. It was the best summer ever! I will never forget.

Remembering Margaret on the 20th anniversary of 9/11...

Thinking of Margaret. She and I ran together, trained together, as fellow members of the Hoboken Harriers running club. We were both training for the New York City Marathon 2001. She was vivacious, lovely, kind, and unaffected. She volunteered with the running club's fun run to raise money for a local charity. I still remember the long hours she put in at the registration table, and helping with the preparations. She treated everyone the same, and was genuine. It's been almost 19...

Thinking of you. RIP

Margaret had a heart of gold. Miss the kid.

She was such an awesome kid! Miss her! God speed to her loved ones.

Heidi, I was a classmate from Germany of your father's at Cornell in 1954. Too late I found all of you via the computer and so often do I think back of your gregarious Dad. I see him in your sisters picture and I am sure, she had his wit. My sorrow is with your family. Gertrud Adawi- White.

You were remembered today, 9/11/16

I will never forget. Blessings to your family.
