Sister Margaret was my 1st grade teacher in 1969 at St. Mary's School in Oswego. To this day, my memory of her is crystal clear. She had a great impact on my understanding of the power of quiet strength - and on my penmanship!
In 8th grade, Sister Margaret returned to St. Mary's to attend the graduation ceremonies of her 1st grade class, and I was given the opportunity to present our class's gift to her. We all had our own stories about Sister Margaret and that 1st grade year, most of them...

Sister Margaret was my first grade teacher in 1968 (at St. Mary's School, Oswego, N.Y.) I remember how strict she could be but also how much I learned from her. On spelling tests, whenever we got a word wrong, we would have to look up the word in the newspaper or magazine, cut it out and paste it in a little notebook. I hold three college degrees and give much of the credit to my sucesss to her and other teachers at St. Mary's for the educational and moral values they instilled upon me.
