Margaret and I are the grandmothers to the two most beautiful grandchildren. Ava Hathaway Hacker is my oldest and Margaret´s only grand DAUGHTER. Owen´s name reflects both his Stewart and Hacker backgrounds. Grandchildren were very important to Margaret; after Owen was born she said I will never have more than three grandkids: Noah, Ava and Owen! We knew Margaret and Thom at the UO many years ago but held sweet memories, especially crawfishing in the Siuslaw River and buying cases of cheap Spanish red wine for our fish fests. Margaret was a special person, wish we had kept in touch later in life. Our condolences to her family.....

At a family reunion in 1958 (I was 8) Margaret found the only four leaf clover on a cousins scavenger hunt. I din't think they were real until I saw that. She couldn't explain how to find one, just did it. Years later I discovered that what one had to do was look for "Not-three-leafed clovers"... pattern breaks. Ever since I have picked hundreds.
