MARGARET HANNAY

Our most sincere condolences to David and his family. We will miss Margaret's smiling face and caring ways. She was truly a wonderful and compassionate person. It was an honor to have her as our friend. We will miss you dearly. Our prayers are with you always.

To David and family, Margaret was a wonderful mentor to so many scholars. I remember her kindness in making sure that a mutual discovery led to a single-authored article for me, since she knew that would be more beneficial to my career than a joint-authored one. I enjoyed seeing her over the years at conferences and at libraries, and learned so much from her work on early modern women. She was a truly special person whom I feel honoured to have known.

My condolences to Margaret's family. Like numerous others, I benefited tremendously from her scholarship and support of my work over the years. She will be greatly missed.

I came to know Margaret in the late 1980s when I was an early career scholar working on Mary Wroth. Margaret was extremely supportive and generously shared her own work in progress with me. Over the years we kept in touch, including some lovely lunches together on occasions when she was in London. It was always a delight to see her and to share ideas and discoveries. Margaret's outstanding scholarship will live on in her many invaluable published works. My deepest condolences to her family.

I was privileged to have Dr. Hannay as an English literature professor at Siena College. She was a wonderful lady. My condolences to her family and friends. Rest in peace, Dr. Hannay.
