Sister Heaney was born on October 25, 1930 and passed away on Tuesday, November 13, 2018. Sister Heaney was a resident of Rhode Island at the time of passing. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, November 20, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at St. John Vianney Church, 3609 Diamond Hill Road, Cumberland. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. with a Mercy Prayer Service at 9:40 a.m. Interment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Cumberland. I worked with Sister at VNA of RI many years ago. Having been taught in parochial schools by RSM's, I was familiar with the nuns and their sometimes stern demeanor but I wasn't intimidated by Sister Margaret (surprisingly). As soon as I told her of my relative who was also an "RSM"(whom she knew) and the other relative who is a priest(whom she knew) she seemed to have a special place in her heart for me. I remember her being quiet and unassuming but still speaking her mind honestly and...

To all the Sistersof Mercy. I was privileged to live next to Sister Margret . She was a loving , caring person. I often helped her and Sister Rose with this and that around the house. I am sad to hear of her passing but know she is now on the other side of the Pearly Gates. Hopefully we will meet again. Rest in eternal peace. My sincere sympathy goes to her friend Sister Rose and to our family. I remember her fondly every Christmas at our house and as a child coming to our beach house. She had a sense of humor as she had 4 brothers who pushed her to the limits. I'll never forget how devoted she was to my Dad when he was so sick. She came just about every day just to sit with him. I know he couldn't talk but it meant the world to him. She helped us through a difficult time with her presence in our time of need. I'm...
