Margaret H. Hoey

1933 – 2023

West Springfield – Margaret Helen (Kiniry) Hoey, 89, communicant of Sacred Heart Church, Springfield passed away peacefully on March 20, 2023, with her loving family by her side.  Margaret, known by many as Peg, was born November 2, 1933; daughter of the late John and Agnes (Frietacks) Kiniry.  She married Richard L. Hoey on June 20, 1953 and together raised three boys, four grandchildren and four great grandchildren.  She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother/noni who always put her family first.  She had a passion for taking care of children, especially her four beautiful granddaughters, along with gardening and her love for animals.  Margaret was predeceased by her beloved husband, Richard J. Hoey in 2009, and her son Stephen Robert Hoey in 2018.  She is survived by her son Richard J. Hoey and his wife Cheryl, Glenn Hoey and his wife Michelle, and daughter -in-law Susan Hoey.  She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren Stephanie Harris, Kristen Allard, Jordan Hoey and Chelsea Hoey; four great grandchildren Jack Harris, Lyla Harris, Cameron Allard, and Cole Allard.  She also leaves behind her best friend and companion of 13 years “Winston” the cat.  Margaret was a beautiful soul.  People gravitated to her because she made them feel good about themselves.  She lit up the room with her charm and her irresistible laugh.  While she will be deeply missed, her caring spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.  Visiting hours will be held at the West Springfield Curran-Jones Funeral Home Tuesday, March 28th beginning at 11:30 and ending with a funeral home service at 1:00pm followed by burial in the Massachusetts Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery.  For more information or online condolences please visit curranjones.com.  In lieu of flowers, please make donations to her favorite charity St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at https://www.stjude.org.

Heaven has received an outstanding soul, that will forever shine brighter than any group of stars at night. We will all meet again at the Banquet Feast in Heaven! Love, Susan E. Hosmer-Pitts & Thomas E. Pitts

"Peggy" was a very special lady. She was actually the Aunt to my cousin's, Debby, Denise, Donna and John and their spouses. I loved calling her Aunty Peg, too. We are so sorry to hear of her passing and she will be dearly missed. Our prayers and sympathy to all of her family.

Dear Rick Glen and family Peg/Mrs. Hoey was always great to us friends of family even when we were in a bit of trouble in high school! Which was often. She was a wonderful person all the time always smiling and kind. Very sorry for your loss .
