She was born in Haymarket, VA, the daughter of William Russell and Leila Furr Manuel on Sunday, March 22, 1925. "Ya Ya," as she was affectionately called by her grandchildren, was a beautician and owned Margie Lee's Beauty Salon in West Ashley for many years and volunteered at the Naval Hospital. She led a wonderful life, living part of the year in the North Carolina mountains and the other on the Isle of Palms. She and her late husband enjoyed playing golf and traveling together. She spent the last six months of her life happy to finally be in her new home on the river, fishing off her dock and watching her puppies run free in the yard. Surviving are two sons, Marc K. Knapp and his wife JoAnne of Hollywood and Garth E. Knapp of John's Island; a daughter-in-law, Elizabeth L. Knapp; five grandchildren, Lauren K. Mosher and her husband Jeffrey, Jennifer A. Knapp, Margaret E. Knapp, Katherine K. Knapp and Michael J. Knapp; two sisters, Charlotte M. Dobbins and Isabella M. Loso; and her wonderful caregiver, Angela Meyers. The relatives and friends of Margaret M. Knapp are invited to attend her Liturgy of the Word at 10:30 AM, Thursday, May 8, 2008, at the James A. McAlister Chapel. The Rite of Committal will be in Beaufort National Cemetery Thursday afternoon at 2:30 PM. The family will receive friends at the James A. Not sure what to say?

This voice from the far distant past wants to tell you how very sad it was to hear of your wonderful Mother's passing. There was no finer person, neighbor or friend who showed more compassion, intelligence or class than our Margie Lee. May she rest in eternal peace!

I knew Mrs. Knapp for many years, from the time I first came to Charleston. She was one of the first clients in my salon and remained one for a long time. Though I have seen her less often in recent years, she has remained very special to me. She was a kind, wonderful, elegant lady. My sympathy goes out to all of you, her family.

We are so sorry for your loss. She was a wonderful Lady.

All of you are in our prayers. Margie was such a sweet and kind
person. We loved her very much.
I know you will miss her but try to
remember the good times you shared with her. May God bless each one of you.
