Margaret “Peggy” Anne Levins, 88, of Cranford formerly of Point Pleasant Beach, passed away on November 21, 2021, at UMDNJ University Hospital, Newark. She was born on October 22, 1933, in Ozone Park, Queens, NY to Harold and Anna Goodman. Margaret married George Lawrence Levins September 22, 1959, and moved to Point Pleasant Beach where she lived most of her life prior to moving to Cranford in recent years.
Margaret was a Registered Nurse who worked in hospitals in Newark and NY and later in several Ocean and Monmouth County Nursing Homes. She was the Director of Nursing at Leisure Chateau, Lakewood. She was a parishioner of St. Peter’s Church. She was a member of the Civic Committee and PTA and a Girl Scout Leader all in Point Pleasant Beach. She was a coach for the Point Pleasant Soccer Club. She was an avid traveler and shopper bur most importantly she loved spending time with her grandchildren.
Margaret was predeceased by her husband George Lawrence Levins in 1982. She is survived by her daughters Marie Levins Forrestal and her husband James of Cranford, NJ, Jeanne Kinneally and her husband James and Laura Levins Finlay all of Brielle, NJ. She is also survived by her 9 grandchildren Matthew and his wife Elizabeth, Meaghan and Daniel Finlay; Jimmy, Conor, Jack and Mary Kinneally; Jake and Garrett Forrestal.
Viewing hours will be held on Wednesday, December 1st from 3:30-7:30 PM at Van Hise & Callagan Funeral Home, 812 Arnold Avenue, Point Pleasant Beach. A funeral mass will be held on Thursday, December 2nd at 11 AM at St. Peter’s Church, Point Pleasant Beach. Interment will follow at St. Catharine’s Cemetery, Sea Girt. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made payable and sent to Point Pleasant Beach Public Education Foundation, 299 Cooks Lane, PPB NJ 08742 in memory of Peg and George Levins.
