Margaret McElhinney

Margaret "Maggie" McElhinney, 60, of Danville, died at 2:10 AM Thursday, January 24, 2013, at the New London Nursing and Rehab in New London. Born July 12, 1952, in Burlington, she was the daughter of Lewis and Opal Sherer Fisher. On July 23, 1971, she married Larry McElhinney in Burlington. Maggie was a day care provider and homemaker. She attended Burlington High School. She was a member of the Danville Junior Women and Danville Jaycettes. She loved spending time with her day-care children and grandchildren. She also enjoyed walking outdoors, her trips to Branson, and her grandchildren's school functions. She was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan. Survivors include her husband, Larry; two daughters, Tonia R. (Mick Smeltzer) McElhinney of Ames and Stacie D. McElhinney of Danville; two grandchildren, Logan Hand and Averie Senn both of Danville; one brother, Butch Fisher of Burlington; one step-brother, George (Sue) Moehle; several nieces and nephews; Lisa Jacobs her child at heart and her children Natalie and Jeremy Jacobs, Shannon Heald her sister at heart, and her roommate Mary. She was preceded in death by her parents, step parents, father-in-law, and one sister-in-law, Debbie Fisher. Visitation will be from noon until 5:00 PM with the family to receive friends from 2:00 PM until 5:00 PM Sunday, January 27, 2013 at Thielen Funeral Home. The funeral service for Maggie McElhinney will be 10:00 AM Monday, January 28, 2013, at Thielen Funeral Home with Pastor Richard Dutzer officiating. Burial will be in Jaggar Cemetery, rural Danville. A time of food and fellowship will be held in Danville Congregational Church following the burial. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
