Not sure what to say?

I met Margaret (Peg) through Mabel Pullen
who did a teacher exchange from England to Akron in the fifies and were friends for life.Margaret often cane to Enagland and I and My wife had the privalige ang great pleasure of taking her on a tour of Dorset rinding the places that one of Margarets favourite authore Thomas Hardy wrote about in his many novels. I found Hardy`s novels hard going at School but Margaret shamed me into reading them again for which I shall bever thank full.We stayed...

By chance, I have found that one who meant so much to me; has ascended to that place we all hope to one day reach. My words. The shaping of my thoughts and expressing my "mind's eye," was deeply effected by the teachings of Ms. Margaret L. Oechsner.
I shall recall and remember her always... both now and forever.

Thank you Miss Oechsner, I learned the joys of poetry from you and can still see you reciting "She walks in beauty, like the night"
You were a wonderful teacher, you spent your time well.

Class of '71

Margaret "Peg" Oechsner was a living inspiration to many of us. Because of her, a number of her students, including me, majored in English in college. The previous comments say it all--from the 14 lines of the Canterbury Tales which we all had to memorize and write, to learning about the structure of the novel from Fielding to Hardy to Conrad, to interpreting poetry "in depth."

The world has need of thinkers, and Peg was a great teacher, leading us in that direction.

Now and forever; thank you, Miss Oechsner!

Whan that aprill with his shoures soote
The droghte of march hath perced to the roote,
And bathed every veyne in swich licour
Of which vertu engendred is the flour;
Whan zephirus eek with his sweete breeth
Inspired hath in every holt and heeth
Tendre croppes, and the yonge sonne
Hath in the ram his halve cours yronne,
And smale foweles maken melodye,

Ms. Oechsner was a wonderful and dedicated teacher to us Buchtelites. She was tough yet fair and cared wheter we got it or not. She always had our education first and foremost in her mind. We are all better educated for her making sure we were exposed to Shakespere and many other works for having taken her classes and learned more of Shakespere and others. Bless Ms. Oechsner for her dedication as we could use more teaches like her to push our youth to superior success.

I was one who Miss Oechsner took a chance with .... letting me into her AP English class in 1971. Her dedication (and frank feedback) truly was a gift. Because of her, I learned to write well and how to study. She was a great teacher.

I too was very inspired by Margaret Oechsner. I visited her over the years and enjoyed her wit and humor, her high standards, impeccable taste and style, and her amazing garden. She is such a fine example of what one person can achieve and how the goodness ripples out into the world. I am a stronger, better person as a result of her teaching and mentoring. What a difference she made in helping to shape how we comprehend and communicate.
