EAST PEORIA - Margaret E. Rowland, age 72, of East Peoria passed away on Thursday, Dec. 31, 2020, at 9:09 p.m. at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
She was born on Nov. 26, 1948, in Peoria to Francis and Dorothy (Reents) Donovan. She married Archie Rowland Jr. on Dec. 16, 1966, in Peoria. He passed away on May 23, 2017, in Peoria. She was also preceded in death by her parents; one grandson, Seth Allen Hardin; and one sister, Donna Beard.
Survivors include three children, Alfie (Rene Danneels) Rowland of Peoria, Olivia (Kile) Axsom-Hardin of Mapleton and Andrew Rowland of East Peoria; and five grandchildren, Lamia, Sedona, Kaden, Walker and Manny. She is also survived by four sisters, Mary Plemons of Washington, Kathleen Anderson of Blacksburg, VA, Jerri Ann (Don) Carlson of Peoria, Rita Cully of Peoria; and one brother, Richard Donovan of Peoria.
Margaret worked and retired from Sears after numerous years. While there, she held several positions. She was proud of the fact she earned an Associations Degree in Accounting from ICC. She also enjoyed volunteering for over ten years as an Election Judge for East Peoria.
She loved attending all the grandkids' events and was an active part in their lives. She was an avid gardener and enjoyed participating in various charity walks in the Peoria area.
Visitation will be Thursday, Jan. 7, 2021, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Remmert Funeral Home in East Peoria. Funeral services will be Friday, Jan. 8, 2021, at 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery in Pekin.
