MARGARET MAE WHITEHILL

Margaret Mae Whitehill passed away Sunday, June 10, 2018, in Chico, at the age of  97. Margaret was born on January 12, 1921 in Clarinda, Iowa, to Jennings B. Beery and Geneva A. Dougherty. She married the love of her life, John Wesley Whitehill on Feb, 2, 1940. They moved to Richmond, CA. and had two children, Ronald John was born August 19, 1942, and Barbara Diane Parker was born on Sept 23, 1945.  Margaret worked for the Chico USD as a Cafeteria Manager for 30 years. After 47 years of marriage, John died suddenly at their home in Paradise in May 1987. Margaret then traveled. Alaska was a favorite, but she especially loved to take trips with her children in their camper trailer. They traveled back home to Iowa; the Grand Ole’ Opry in Nashville Tennessee; to Washington State, Sonoma, Ca., and Louisiana, to visit her grandchildren; to the Oregon Coast and many other places on their bucket list. Margaret and John have 7 grandchildren (Ron) -Suzanne Suzie Marie (Mario) Amantite, Loretta Lodie Ann (Mike) Dunlap, Sean Ronald Clark (Cindy), Margaret Peggy Elaine Lucille Penton, Sara Michelle Whitehill. Her great-grandchildren are Chantelle Rose (John) Limnios, Marcus Luigi Amantite; Ryan Michael and Tyler Matthew Dunlap; Kevin Andrew Clark (Jenna); Seth Danial Penton, and Sidney Shayne (Joshua) Wilson. (Ron’s Step children) – Heather Shariff Clark and Bobby Amen Clark (passed Nov 2017). (Barbara) – Tami Lynn and Robert Bobby Parker.  Margaret also had 5 great-great-grandchildren Yanni Richard and Serafina Rose Limnios; Mila Rae Clark; Shayne Lavelle Wilson; and Kiara Kathleen Cooper. Margaret is also preceded in death by her 3 siblings: Thelma McCowen, Lowell, and Donald Beery.

A viewing will be held on Thursday, June 21, 2018 at Paradise Chapel of the Pines Funeral Home in Paradise between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. A graveside service will be held at the Paradise Cemetery at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 22, 2018.  Join us for a No-Host reception to follow at the Sierra Nevada Brewing Company in Chico at 1 p.m.
