WILSON, Margaret (Maggie) Ellen Age 81, died on Friday, November 27, 2020 in Austin, Texas. She was born to Elbert and Kate Brothers on January 19, 1939 in San Angelo, Texas. At the early age of nine, Maggie devoted her life to her Lord, Jesus Christ. Maggie considered this commitment the most important thing she ever did and her relationship with Jesus anchored her during her lifetime. She married Maynard Lee Wilson on February 1, 1958 in San Angelo, Texas. Maggie graduated with honors from Lake View High School, San Angelo, Texas in 1957; then, Draughn's Business College with academic achievement recognition in 1963. During her high school years, she was an honor student, leader in Youth for Christ, awarded the prestigious Balfour Plaque for citizenship and academic excellence -- and, she was an awesome basketball player. While Lee was attending the University of Texas, Maggie worked as a secretary and earned her PHT (putting husband through). She was energetic in student wives' affairs and was elected president of Engineering Wives Club and later "Mrs. Engineer of UT." Here, she represented The University at many student wives' events and was vigorous in advancing recognition of student wives' needs and programs. During 58 years in the business world, Maggie's integrity, veracity and management skills rapidly advanced her to executive positions. She served 25 years for a life insurance company as Assistant Vice President and 33 years for a jet aircraft leasing company as Executive Director of Aircraft Leasing. Maggie recognized the need for women's parity in the workplace and made her views known both vocally and in writing. She promoted the position of equality for women's salaries and positions in workplace. She loved the arts and donated many volunteer hours to Laguna Gloria Arts Center, taking on both "hands on" and leadership positions preparing for the annual festival. Maggie is survived by her husband, Lee Wilson of Austin, TX; brother, Allen Brothers; niece, Becky Brothers; grand nephew, Michael Brothers; all of San Angelo; nephew, Bryan Brothers of Livingston, Montana; and grandniece, Margaret Deering of Chattanooga, Tennessee. For recreation, Maggie loved working with and nurturing decorative plants, raising many that survived for decades and were displayed at many businesses during winter months. She loved the hill country and its lakes - boating, sunbathing, swimming and shopping its towns. She also enjoyed time in the hunters blind on annual hill country deer hunts. Maggie's most cherished periods of each year were Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays. Family and friends joined she and Lee at Cow Creek Ranch in the hill country. Her culinary skills were notable and lauded by family and friends. She took great "delight" in preparing core Thanksgiving and Christmas meals and hosting both Lee's and her friends and families. Maggie is remembered as having a loving spirit, quick wit, welcoming smile and robust laughter. She was true to her friends and greeted everyone with her beautiful smile and welcome hug. We will miss her immensely. Maggie was laid to rest in a private service at Lakeland Hills Memorial Park in Burnet, Texas.
