Lewallen-Garcia-Pipkin Funeral Home Obituary

Margarita (Mage) Garcia Reyes, 86, of Midland, Texas went to be with our Lord on October 18, 2025.  She was born on February 19, 1939, in Monahans, Texas to Hilario and Margarita Garcia.  She married Anastacio (Tacho) Reyes on September 28, 1957, and moved to Midland, Texas. Together they had three children: Ramon, Rosalinda and Oscar.

She was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker.  Mage volunteered for Helping Hands for many years along with her husband.  She enjoyed working with other volunteers and finding useful treasures to buy and give to others.  She was a long-time member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.  Although she was not fond of cooking, she will be missed for her enchiladas, tortillas and more.  She enjoyed music and dancing.  She also enjoyed visiting relatives and friends.  She had a wonderful sense of humor and liked to make everyone laugh.  She would strike up a conversation with everyone whether she knew them or not.

She is survived by her sons Ramon (Tomi) of Midland, TX. and Oscar Reyes of Lubbock, TX.  Her grandchildren Laura (Jacob) Ormsby of The Woodlands, TX; Adrianne (Adam) Hinojos of Greenwood, TX; Monica (Sean) Ellis of Midland; Andy Garcia and Anthony Garcia of Hobbs, N.M.  She is also survived by eleven great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her husband, daughter Rosalinda Reyes Garcia, her parents, brothers, Miguel and Hilario Garcia and sister Vickie Stringer.

Rosary will be held on Thursday, October 23, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. with viewing from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Lewallen-Garcia-Pipkin Funeral Home.  Mass will be on Friday, October 24, 2025, at 9:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.  Burial will follow at Serenity Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Our family would like to thank the staff at Brookdale Senior Living in Midland and Hospice of Midland for the service entrusted to them in caring for our mother and grandmother.

Hospice of Midland

I was saddened to learn of Maga's passing. Growing up in Midland, my family and I have known the Reyes family for many years, and I will always cherish the memories of Tacho and Maga watching us grow up. I am also grateful that Maga had the opportunity to know my son. I always looked forward to visiting with Maga during my trips to see my mother in Midland, and I will miss our joyful conversations and shared laughter.

My thoughts and prayers are with Ramon and Oscar during this...

I loved Mage and Tacho! Volunteered with both of them at Helping Hands. Will always remember Mage sitting on her stool sorting clothes by the bailer. Tacho calling me El Chuco because I came from El Paso. They were such a happy couple, offering warm smiles to those around them.
Mage was a joy to have known! My deepest condolences to all of you in her family.
