Margie Ann Christian

Miss Christian, As my first grade teacher in 1973 I remember you taking the time to write my name in upper and lower case. Thank you for always being patient with me. I also remember taking afternoon naps on those green and purple cots and those black, red and yellow stripped baskets we kept on our desks. I only found out later in life that you were also partnered with Miss Kull, my second grade teacher. Thank you again for all your years of teaching.

I was lucky to have Miss Christian as my teacher for 1st and 7th grades. I remember struggling to write words in a straight line, and she spent countless afternoons practicing with me, just us and her ruler on my paper! I remember when I graduated (1984), how proud she said she was of me, and that she knew I would get to do great things. Goodbye Ms. Christian. I was truly lucky to have you as a mentor and teacher in my nine years at Palmer (70-79). You were my first grade teacher and your inspiration and dedication during all of those years has stayed with me. The life lessons I learned I now pass on to my children. In the summer of 1990 I was a student in the summer school calls she taught. Though I vacated Palmer School after 6th grade I never had her as my teacher, I would visit Palmer from time to time and talk with her. I will hiss her very much, but what she taught her students will carry on through the years ahead of us and we will remember her. Good bye for now. You will be missed.

Thank you for truly being one of the best teachers I ever had. I still remember so much from your classroom, your lessons, and your general life guidance. I'll never forget what it's like to have the "first snow" of the year in Walnut Creek, or to have been honored to be the lead in our school play with your direction. You have always been an inspiration and I feel truly blessed to have been able to know you. Thank you.

Margie, from day one, you were always there with great advice, a warm smile, and the confidence in me that I could succeed. You were my mentor, but more important, my friend, and I will treasure all my memories of you forever. Thank you Sassy Lady :)

Miss Christian was such an inspirational part of my life. Her life lessons and joyous laugh spread happiness across the Palmer School campus for many years. I am glad that I had the priviledge to not only call Miss Christian my teacher, but also my friend. Her lessons will be passed on for generations to come, her smile will be missed but never forgotten.

You were such a special part of my life. When I was just starting out as a teacher, you were always there with a word of advice - the calm in the storm of middle school.
You will always hold a very special place in my heart.
