Our beloved, MARIA “ABBIE” ROSARIO RODRIGUEZ, born January 28, 1944, went home to be with the Lord on August 2, 2024 at the age of 80. She is survived by her son Randall (Angelina) Rodriguez, and son Daniel Rodriguez, granddaughters Delisa, Emilia, Donica, and Mina. Other survivors include her ex-husband Jose D. Rodriguez, siblings: Jennie (Roman) Yanez, Joe Arenas, Erasmo Arenas, Espi Diaz, Toni Arenas, Alice (Ramon) Caro, Ofelia Arenas, Johnny Arenas, Sara Arenas as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents Candelario and Concepcion Arenas, sisters Dora Arenas and Mary Tellez, brother in-law Joe Diaz, and nephew Dustin Arenas.
Abbie was a loving and cherished mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She had numerous friends with whom she shared many warm moments together during numerous lunches and dinners. She expressed her caring nature to those she encountered throughout her life. She worked in the medical field as a nurse's assistant, working well beyond expectations. She enjoyed nurturing and assisting patients recover from their ailments. Abbie also enjoyed cooking for those she loved and cared for. Her passions in life were gardening and visiting with those she loved. She was also devout in her faith towards God and was loved by numerous parishioners throughout her life.
All services will be held on Wednesday, August 21, 2024 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Cathedral, 1240 S. Espina Street, Las Cruces, NM 88001. Visitation will begin at 9:30am followed by the Rosary which is scheduled at 10:00am, and the Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30am. The Rite of Committal and Interment will conclude at St. Joseph's Cemetery, 100 N. Espina Street, Las Cruces, NM 88001, where she will be laid to rest, and a funeral reception to follow.
