Sister Maria Bierer (then Mother Maria Regina) was our first English teacher at St. Francis and also our choral director. She was young and beautiful and we all loved her. None of us could ever imagine the heights to which she would rise! She dealt with terrible disabilities in her later years but just kept going. I was very proud to have been her friend for 67 years. Rest in peace, dear one.

I will forever be grateful to Sister Maria for giving me a love for the many musicals we performed at SFHS. I still remember the words to all of the songs she taught us for the performances. She had the smile of an angel. Thank you for the gift of Maria in my high school life.
