Maria "Marietta" Calleri

CALLERI, Maria "Marietta" (Cannata) Maria "Marietta" (Cannata) Calleri, 90, Wethersfield, loving wife of the late Giuseppe Calleri, died Tuesday, (July 13, 2004) at her daughter's home surrounded by her family. She was born December 26, 1913 in Palazzolo Acreide, province of Siracusa, Sicily and was the daughter of the late Giuseppe and Maria (Bonaiuto) Cannata. She immigrated to the United States in 1956. She is survived by a son, Paul Calleri and his wife, Nicoletta; two daughters, Maria Santapaola and her husband, Sebastian and Lydia Gervasi and her husband, Fulvio all of Wethersfield; a sister, Concettina Guglielmino of Middletown; six grandchildren, Giuseppe and Maria Calleri and Salvatore Santapaola and his wife, Theresa all of Wethersfield, Anna Porydzy and her husband, Greg of South Glastonbury, Richard Gervasi and his wife, Nicole of Middlefield and Lisa Taverney and her husband, Scott of Wethersfield; eight great grandchildren, Alyssa, Kristina, Christian, Juliana, Gina, Giancarlo, Isabella and Kayla and many nieces and nephews and dear relatives and friends. She was predeceased by four brothers, Paolo, Giuseppe, Salvatore and Sebastiano Cannata and four sisters, Marianna Scirpo, Angelina DiPietro, Sebastiana Guglielmino and Giuseppina Bonfiglio. A very special thank you to the nurses at the VNA Hospice for their care, compassion and support. Funeral service will be Friday at 9:15 a.m. at the D'Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd. Wethersfield followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at Corpus Christi Church, Wethersfield. The burial will be Cedar Hill Cemetery, Hartford. Calling hours are TODAY from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
