Maria G. Elizarde

Maria G. Elizarde, 88, was called home to be with our Lord on Sunday, September 26, 2021.

She was born on October 25, 1932 and was a lifelong resident of Harlingen, Texas.

She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 68 years, Armando B. Elizarde.

Maria was actively involved at St. Anthony Catholic Church where she was a lifelong parishioner. She loved to garden, tend to her plants, and watch her favorite novellas. She was an avid Harlingen Cardinal football fan and attended all the games for many years.

Maria is survived by her loving family including her daughter, Rosalinda Cavazos; her son, Armando (Debbie) Elizarde Jr.; grandsons, Lonnie (Eleanor) Cavazos, Roel Cavazos, and Adam Christian Elizarde; and great grandchildren, Andrea (Chase) Williams and Erick Cavazos. She is also survived by her beloved Chihuahua, Pepito.

The family would like to express their gratitude to Dr. Prasad Movva, Valley Baptist Medical Center, and her providers, Francisca Flores, Maria Avalos, and Lydia Guajardo who took care of her in her home in the final years of her life. We will miss our Mother/Grandmother dearly and never forget all the love and prayers she bestowed upon her family each and every day. We will always cherish our memories with her and she will never be forgotten.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 29, 2021 from 4:00 pm to 6pm. Rosary will follow from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Trinity Funeral Chapel.

A funeral mass of Christian burial will be held on Thursday, September 30, 2021 at 3:00pm at St. Anthony Catholic Church.

Interment will follow to Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in La Feria.
