Maria Elena Figueroa (nee Limon), 75, of Lorain, passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, August 14, 2023, surrounded by her loved ones.
Maria Elena was born in Lorain on December 15, 1947, to Lazaro and Maria Dolores (nee Flores) Limon. She was a lifelong resident of Lorain.
Maria Elena dedicated her life to her family. Her favorite activities were gathering together for her special Spanish meals and celebrating any occasion. Maria Elena was proud of her Mexican heritage and never missed an opportunity to see a Mariachi band when they were performing locally.
Maria Elena was strong in her faith and a beloved member of Sacred Heart Chapel, where she once worked as the church secretary. She was a member of many groups and committees throughout the church, including Guadalupe Society, St. Vincent DePaul society, RCIA, Faith Formation, Prison Ministries and many others.
Maria Elena is survived by her husband of 59 years, Ricardo Sr., her children Ricardo Jr. (Marla) of Lorain, Margarita Ely of Elyria, David (Jennifer) of Lorain, Marisol (Dennis) Richards of Amherst, sister Maria Elodia (Raymond) Tomlinson of San Antonio, Texas, brother Ricardo Limon of San Antonio, Texas, 17 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents Lazaro and Maria Dolores Limon, sister Maria Guadalupe Limon, and brothers Lazaro Jr., and Mario Limon.
The family will receive friends Monday, August 21, 2023, from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at the Richard J. Reidy Funeral Home, 1783 East 31st Street, South Lorain, and Tuesday at Sacred Heart Chapel 4301 Pearl Avenue, from 8:30 A.M. until 9:30 A.M. Mass of Christian Burial. The Rev. Father William A. Thaden, Pastor will officiate. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Lorain Ohio.
