Maria was a sweet and gentle spirit, and a wonderful hostess whenever I visited her home. She was a business partner with my father, and each time that I delivered an order, Maria would insist that I stay for a moment. She would make fresh coffee, serve me a treat that she had recently baked, and we'd have a nice conversation, which often turned to something Italian. I forgot how much I enjoyed her company.
