PSARAS, Maria Maria (Hatzikostantis) Psaras, 74, beloved wife of the late Emmanuel Psaras, of East Hartford, formerly of Wethersfield, died Wedneday (January 30, 2008). Born in Gennadi, Rhodes, Greece, she was the daughter of the late Kostantinos and Stergoula (Cumpis) Hatzikostantis. She lived most of her life in Wethersfield prior to East Hartford. She and her late husband owned and operated, L&L Package Store of New Britain and Economy Liquors of Bristol until their retirement. She spent her summers in Greece enjoying her grandsons. Mrs. Psaras was a member of the St. George's Greek Orthodox Cathedral of Hartford. She is survived by two loving children, son Dr. James "Dimitrios" Psaras of East Hartford, and daughter and son-in-law, Stella and Vasilios Kourtis of Greece; two adoring grandchildren, Stamatis and Manoli Kourtis of Greece; three brothers, Kyriakos Hatzikostantis and Theologos and his wife Evangelia Hatzikostantis all of Australia, and Markos and his wife, Kostandina "Dina" Hatzikostantis of Wethersfiled; a brother-in-law, Elias Psaras of East Hartford and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Saturday 1 p.m. in the St. George Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 433 Fairfield Ave., Hartford. Internment will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery. His family will receive relatives and friends on Friday from 6-8 p.m. at the Giuliano-Sagarino Funeral Home at BROOKLAWN, 511 Brook Street, Rocky Hill. There will be a Trisayion at 7 p.m. in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, gifts in her memory may be made to the St. Nektarios Shrine, C/O St. George Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 433 Fairfield Ave., Hartford, CT 06114. Jack and I are so deeply sorry for the loss of your Mother. We so enjoyed seeing your Mother at the social functions at Riverpoint. I especially looked forward to chatting with Maria each Sunday in the parking garage on our way to church. We will miss Maria but know that she is in a better place. Jimmy and Stella,
I feel so privileged to have known your father and mother. They were both so helpful and friendly to me and my friends when we were in Greece every year. I will miss your mom especially. She was the sweetest woman in the village. My heart goes out to you both in this time of grief.
