I never got to meet Maria but my mother (her best friend Giselle Batista from highschool) told me about her a lot every now and then. I remember when my father and I went to the 9/11 memorial and I learned about her in depth for the first time. Saw photos of my mom and her together with my older brothers as kids. My mom has a hard time speaking about Maria but for some reason I find myself thinking of her and wondering what she might have been like for my mother to love her so much from time...

This is one of the hardest days for me my Maria. 24 years you have been gone. I can't fathom the thought! In 19 days would've been your 50th birthday. I miss you so much. I love you and will always shout your name as loud as I can. Until we meet again. I will forever have you in my heart. That will never change. Mommy

I didn't know Maria, I was only 3 years old when she passed away, but having read about her now I know for sure she was a wonderful human being. To hear about how much she loved her dog especially touched me. To love and care for animals so much shows how sensitive, kind and empathetic she must have been. I'm sending love and prayers to Maria and her family. Rest in peace ❤
