My sister, Lois Skala, and I were just talking about Maria. To this day, no one can style hair like Maria did. Every time I went to the salon, Maria's light and love lifted any burden my heart might be carrying. I relaxed with a coffee, a pastry, and joyful conversation. Sometimes Mama would be there, and we would fill the place with laughter. I just learned of Maria's passing today!
Shocked could not even begin to describe my emotion. Maria's infectious laugh is still heard in my head. I always felt like no time at all passed in between my long overdue visits... and our conversations were always of our swapping stories of our families and children!!
