So many great childhood memories were spent on the front porch of the Spano's 54th street home. I have many photos of all the neighborhood kids lining the steps on a hot summer day. Never once were we shooed away, yelled at for making too much noise, or told to go home. We were always welcomed and felt love, like a second or exteded family. Although I have Irish/ Slovak heritage, the Spanos made me want to be Italian. So much so that I married one and cook like the best of them. Thank you...

My, it has been a very long time. I was born and raised on 54th street with fond memories of our "gang" hanging out on the Spano's porch with the aroma of wonderful Italian sauce cooking on the stove and Mrs Spano always offering us laqua and me asking Vito what is she saying!
