Words cannot describe the emotions I feel today as I'm learning of your loss for the first time. Unfortunately, I was not lucky to have met your mother. Maria was obviously a strong, loving, and selfless woman. I want to send you and your family much love in this hard time.

We know Maria through our daughter Suzy who became fast friends with Chrystia in elementary school. We could always depend on Maria to transport the girls to dances, track events (anything they came up with that they "had" to go) and we knew she would take care of Suzy as she would her own. Although I never met your mother, it sounds like she was a wonderful person. When I heard of the violence, I first thought of our neighbors who have a summer home and family near Binghamton. Everything was well with them and it was another one of those senseless acts that no one can explain--like Columbine and unfortunately so many other incidents. I always think, I'm glad I don't know anyone who was there and how horrible it would be to lose a family member that...
