Haircuts at Disney World
The MacFarlanes of Revere, Mass., did everything together. They lived side by side in two houses built by their Irish immigrant ancestors after the Civil War. Marianne MacFarlane, 34, the middle child and only girl, was a customer service representative for United Airlines at Logan Airport. She lived with her mother, Anne, also a customer service representative in the same terminal at Logan.

Marianne MacFarlane's brother, George, his wife, her children, and George's brother, Joseph, lived next door. Except for the children, they all worked at Logan Airport at one time or another.

The MacFarlanes took advantage of the free flights that are offered to airline employees to travel together. Marianne MacFarlane — tall, blond, vivacious — and her mother flew to Disney World just to get their hair cut by a hairdresser at the Contemporary Resort Hotel.

On Sept. 11, Ms. MacFarlane was traveling alone on United Flight 175, headed for the West Coast for a vacation.

Hello my dear friend. There were even more changes at WDW this year. Toy Story land opened. I know you would have been there getting the front seat on the slinky dog ride. We will never forget you or all our fun times. I can't help but laugh when we go by Burger King. LOL

Another year and here we are , I can't tell you things have gotten better in this world we live in , but my heart is heavy today , thinking of you and your family , hope you're flying high my friend

Marianne, I think of you often. All of our laughs and fun times at the airline as well as all our fun times after work. You always made me laugh and smile. My friend, you will never be forgotten by so many.

I think of you often Marianne...Not just on 9/11 but when a group of friends are all laughing and joking and having a good time. I'll always remember how fun you were to work with and the white water rafting trip you organized! So much fun! Miss you! "JoJoDancer"

Hello my friend. Here we are again. Making sure you are never forgotten. So many changes to WDW, lol. You'd love them. I know you'd be first in line to see Pandora. Love you, miss you. Hug Mom and Dad for us!

It's been 17 years since the world stopped turning , there isn't a year yet on this day that I don't think about you and your family . Marianne I know you're flying high , you are never forgotten. In the aviation industry we are all family; and family we will always be. Rest easy sweet girl ❤

Marianne, I think of you often, all these years you are never forgotten. Your sweet smile and gentle kindness will live on forever. The fun we had after work going to sing at the Purple Shamrock, singing "The Leader of the Pack" I will never forget that. We called our singing group The Priority Golds. Your memory and love will live on in your beautiful kind spirit forever, until we meet again.
