Connor-Healy Funeral Home - Manchester Obituary

Marie (Dashy) Dovas, 90, of Manchester, NH, died peacefully on August 14, 2025, at home, surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Manchester, NH, on May 21, 1935, she was the daughter of Michael and Wadiha (Khoury) Dashy. She was a lifelong resident of the Queen City.

Educated in the local school district, she graduated from Manchester Central High School, Class of 1953.

Marie retired from the Manchester School District, where she worked for thirty-one years as a secretary at Central High School and Southside Middle School.

She was a devoted wife for sixty-seven years to her loving husband, John. She was also a wonderful mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who strongly believed in the importance of family connections. She was an excellent cook who loved preparing Middle Eastern and Mediterranean cuisine, creating wonderful dishes for her family. She was a lifelong parishioner of St. George Greek Orthodox Cathedral, where she was a member of the Daughters of Penelope, Anagennesis Ladies Society, Tri-Ortho, and NOA Auxiliary.

Anyone who knew Marie loved her pleasant personality and quick wit. She could always be counted on to entertain family and friends with her remarks, making everyone around her laugh. She was well known in the school district community for her years of service, where she consistently went above and beyond for staff, students, and parents.

She was predeceased by her sisters, Evelyn Spacone, Josephine Folis, Loretta Shamie, and Helen Mastacouris.

Family members include her husband, John Dovas, a daughter, Kathryn Jaskolka, and her husband, John; a son, George, and his significant other, Rahmee Gerjes. She also leaves behind two grandchildren, Erika Jaskolka Barnes and her husband, Curtis, of Deerfield, NH, and Nicholas Jaskolka of West Hills, California; as well as two great-grandchildren, Julia Barnes and Trevor Barnes, both of Deerfield, NH. Marie also leaves behind one sister, Lilly Ivos, of Tyngsboro, MA, along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to VNA and all the wonderful caregivers who shared this journey with them, especially Holly Almeida and Melinda Silva.

Services: Calling hours will be held Tuesday from 9:30 to 11 AM at St. George Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 650 Hanover Street, Manchester, NH, followed by a funeral service at 11 AM.

Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Manchester, NH.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations in Marie’s name be made to the St. George Greek Orthodox Cathedral Choir.

Dear John, Kathy, George, and families. My sincerest condolences to you on Marie‘s death. She was my second mother at Central high school! She was a wonderful secretary to all, including my dad. I did not know about her death until today, but please know that I loved her dearly and will remember her in my prayers. Claudette Roy Dachowski.

I am so sorry for your loss. Marie was a great person. May she rest in eternal peace.

To Kathy, George, and family,
Marie was one of a kind. She was more than competent, but oh that wit and personality. In the front office she was the oil that made Southside run so smoothly. Many times I saw her deal with angry parents demanding to see the principal. Marie would assess the situation and in a few minutes the situation would be diffused. The parent would leave with a smile and the lucky teacher or administrator never knew what occured. I am so sorry for your loss. I will...

To Kathy and family,
We are sorry to hear of Marie's passing. She was a dear friend to our mother and aunt, and we remember her as a kind lady with an easy, genuine smile. May her memory be eternal.

Dear Kathy, John and family. We were are so sorry to hear of your Mom's passing, but we are out of state and can't attend the services. We are thinking and praying for all of you. May her memory be eternal.

I had the pleasure of working with Marie for a short time when she helped us out at Hillside. Her quick wit and facial expressions had me doubled over in laughter. A wonderful lady!

Marie was a treasure at Southside and we all loved her. She was always so thoughtful and kind but so very funny. Sending heartfelt condolences to her entire family.
