Marie E. Garrison

Garrison, Marie E. Ann Arbor, MI Age 92, passed away Saturday, March 25, 2017 with her loving family at her side. She was born November 11, 1924 in Wyandotte, MI, the daughter of Eugene and Margaret (O'Brien) Reigel. On October 8, 1949, she married Wilbert H. Garrison. The family would like to express their great appreciation to Marie's daughters, Sandy and Carol, who welcomed her into their homes and provided a loving place for her to live the last few years of her life when she was unable to live alone. Prior to her marriage, Marie worked at the Veteran's Administration in Detroit. She provided child care in her home over the years and is remembered fondly by those children. Marie enjoyed her coffee (all day), cats, doll collecting, listening to music, line dancing and going anywhere and everywhere when asked. Most of all, she loved her family and especially her grandchildren whom she took care of in order to provide an opportunity for their parents to work outside the home and know their children were well cared for. She will be remembered for "I'm a Happy Camper" her response when asked how she was doing. She always stressed how lucky she was not to have any aches and pains and never a headache in her entire life. Marie is survived by: her six children, Shirley (Robert) Hatto of Ann Arbor; Alan (Marcia) Garrison of Ann Arbor, Carol Schmidt of Saline, Nancy (John) Schultz of Saline, Bruce (Mary) Garrison of Ypsilanti and Sandra (Ronald) Kretschmer of Canton; twelve grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; one sister Phyllis Pakron; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Will, her infant son Steven, her son-in-law Mark Schmidt and several brothers and sisters. Cremation has taken place. The memorial mass will be 11 am Wednesday, April 12, 2017 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 410 W. Cross Street, Ypsilanti with visitation from 10 am until time of mass.
