Peaslee Funeral Home - Farmington Obituary

New Durham, NH – Marie Elizabeth (Dede) Goss, 96, formerly of Old Bay Road in New Durham passed away peacefully at Langdon Place of Dover on September 28, 2020 after a period of declining health.  Dede was born in Amesbury, MA on April 17, 1924, the daughter of Alfred C. Huard and Elizabeth (Sicard) Huard.

Dede is survived by her three children, Alfred E. Goss and wife Carol of Merrimac, MA, Eileen (Goss) Kurtz and husband Anderson of Lake Worth, Fl, Elizabeth (Toolie) Goss of Lyman, ME, her sister Louise (Huard) Cronin of Edgewater, FL, nine grandchildren, fifteen  great- grandchildren and two great-great granddaughters. She was predeceased by her parents as well as her husband John W. Goss and sister Irene (Huard) Duclos.

Dede attended Amesbury schools.  She was named ‘Wittiest’ in her class of 1941 and said to have a ‘Quick Wit and Keen Sense of Humor”.  That carried true throughout her life.  She was a long-term resident of Amesbury, MA where she and her husband John raised their children.  After retirement, they sold their home in Amesbury and relocated to New Durham, NH in the summer and Edgewater, FL in the winter.  Eventually selling the Florida home, they retired to New Durham where Dede resided for sixteen years after the loss of her husband.  Finally, she took the leap and moved to an Independent Living Facility where she truly enjoyed life. This is where she developed a love for Bingo.

A funeral service will be held on  Saturday, October 3rd at Peaslee Funeral Home, 24 Central Street,  Farmington, NH (calling hour at 10 am service at 11 am) followed by interment at John C. Shirley Memorial Cemetery in New Durham, NH.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Dede’s name to Wentworth Hospice, 9 Andrews Road, Somersworth, NH  03878.

Not sure what to say?

I loved Dede so much. She was so witty and funny most of the time. My prayers for your family.

Grief can be so hard, but our special memories help us cope. Remembering you and your loved one today and always.

Dede was such a hoot. Always enjoyed talking to her about the red socks. She amazed me how she knew all of them and their stats. Rip dede
