Marie Martin Hall

I was saddened to hear of the loss of my cousin, godmother,and letter correspondent, dear Marie. I will miss her informative and enlightening letters which I looked forward to as they were always uplifting. Marie was an inspiration to me as a lifelong learner who embraced change while holding fast to solid values and common sense. She was a caring, loving, and thoughtful friend in my life. Marie and I met when she was in St. Louis working for International Shoe, in advertising. for Mr. Merwin Cable, as did I. She couldn't believe how hot St. Louis was in a third floor apartment in the summer of 1955. "A bake oven," she said. As I recall, she met John at the Spring Shoe Convention. I visited her when Howard was a baby and John out selling shoes. I suppose she always kept that Boston accent. With sympathy, Elizabeth Burton Kellett

Looked forward to visiting with Marie at the American Legion Christmas party and was sad to hear of her death. She was truly a "special person".
