I have been a colleague of Marie's for more than 10 years, both at About.com and The Spruce. She was a wonderful garden writer and had a gift for making her topics interesting and informative. Marie was someone I looked up to in the garden communicator community. She was lovely, smart, and generous. She welcomed me as a new contributor at About.com and offered to help review my materials when I published my first online course. The world is a poorer place without her and I'm so sorry she's gone. I hope she knew how much people valued her friendship and expertise.
