MARTIN, Marie Lenoria - Of Flint, age 85, died Saturday, January 31, 2009 at Primrose of Flushing. Funeral service will be held at 11AM Wednesday, February 4, 2009 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Pastor Michael Stallard officiating. Burial in Evergreen Cemetery. Those desiring may make contributions to Fenton Road Baptist Church, Alzheimer's Association or American Cancer Society. Visitation 1-4 and 6-8PM Tuesday and 10AM Wednesday until the time of the service at the funeral home. Marie was born in Lafe, Arkansas on June 3, 1923, the daughter of the late Bert and Ruth Dowler and was a resident of Flint. On April 5, 1942 she married Winston in Knobel, Arkansas. She was a member of Fenton Road Baptist Church. Mrs. Martin retired from General Motors SPO, Swartz Creek and was a member of UAW Local #659. Surviving are daughter, Phyllis and husband Paul Garrard of Flint; 3 sons, Michael and wife Cheryl of Swartz Creek, Terry and wife Leona, Harold (Bryce) and wife Dee of Tucson, Arizona; 8 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; 6 brothers, Jerry Dowler and Harold Dowler of Lafe, Arkansas, Bill Dowler, Larry Dowler and Wayne Dowler all of Paragould, Arkansas and Robert Dowler of Marmaduke, Arkansas; 3 sisters, Sena Cole of Flint, Cheryl Jones of Poplar Bluff, Missouri and Gloria Lacy of Foristell, Missouri; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Winston; daughter, Catheryn; 1 sister; 3 brothers; 1 grandson and 2 great-grandchildren.
