Marie Jeanne (Houde) McNerney, 86, of Pearce St., Fall River, died peacefully, surrounded by loving family, Wednesday, December 8, 2004 at Charlton Memorial Hospital.

She was the beloved wife of the late Harold E. "Mac" McNerney.

She will be sadly missed by her children.

A lifelong resident of Fall River, she was the daughter of the late Alphonse and Ida (Menard) Houde.

A graduate of B.M.C. Durfee High School and the former Thibodeau Business College, she was a member of Holy Name Parish and the former St. Mathieu Parish.

Survivors include 5 sons, Attorney John E. McNerney and his wife Carolyn Lancaster-McNerney of New Bedford, Charles J. McNerney and his wife Shirley of Portsmouth, VA, Attorney Edward H. McNerney and his wife Ruth Valine of Seattle, WA, James P. McNerney and Fall River Police Officer Patrick W. McNerney and his wife Peg, all of Fall River;
2 daughters, Diane Stanton and her husband William of Fall River and Louise McNerney and her husband Jan Sobieralski of Mercer Island, WA;
2 sisters, Alice Forcier of Swansea and Laurette Deslauriers of Fall River;
a brother, Robert Houde of Rochester, New York;
10 grandchildren, Kathy and John Tavares, Tricia Jones, Keelin, Sean and Christian Stanton, and Michael, Hayley, Brendan and Melanie McNerney.
5 step-grandchildren, Sarah Chandler, William Stanton, Noel Fitzsimmons, Claudine Church and Tracy Tavares;
11 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

She was the grandmother of the late Lisa Anne McNerney and Kealon Patrick Stanton and the sister of the late Joseph Raymond Houde.

Her funeral will be held Monday at 9:00 a.m. from the AUCLAIR FUNERAL HOME, 690 So. Main St., Fall River, with a funeral mass in Holy Name Church, Hanover St., at 10:00.

Interment, Notre Dame Cemetery.

Calling hours, Saturday and Sunday 4:00 to 8:00 p.m.

Large parking area and barrier-free entrance to the rear of funeral home.

I was saddened to hear the news of Aunty Jeanne's passing. She was always my favorite babysitter... I remember her kindness and generosity, and that she always had fudgesicles and cut sandwiches in 4s for me. My deepest condolences and prayers are with you.
