ORANGE: Marie (Volto) Sampieri, age 84, entered eternal rest on August 14, 2025, at Charter Senior Living of Woodbridge. She was the beloved wife of Robert E. Sampieri.
Born in Derby on December 26, 1940, she was the daughter of the late Julius and Genevieve D’Urbano Volto. Marie graduated from Ansonia High School where she met the love of her life Robert, in Italian class, and spent the past sixty-two years building a beautiful life together. Later, at the age of 57, she went on to further her education at the University of New Haven and attained her Bachelors of Arts degree in English. Marie was employed as a secretary and bookkeeper for her husband Robert E. Sampieri, Certified Public Accountant. She was a devout communicant of Holy Infant Church in Orange where she served as former treasurer of the Women’s Guild and was also a member of the churches Mothers’ Circle. Marie was an avid reader and enjoyed solving crossword puzzles. Volunteering her time at the Ronald McDonald House always warmed Marie’s heart. Her most precious memories were made spending time with her loving grandchildren.
In addition to her husband Robert, Marie leaves to cherish her memory, sons, Mark E. Sampieri (Keith Chouinard) of West Brookfield, MA, and Eric R. Sampieri of Tyngsboro, MA, daughter, Claire S. Scully (Douglas) of Bethany, daughter-in-law, Anna Wozniak of Cheshire, grandchildren, Gabriella McCarthy (Matthew), Zachary Sampieri (Trisha), Selina Robertson (Brandon), Liliana Sampieri, Sofia Sampieri, Peter Scully, Brian Scully, and Kathryn Scully, along with several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother John J. Volto and her sister, Lola V. Virzi.
Relatives and friends are invited to greet the family and pay their respects on Sunday, August 17, 2025, from 2:00-5:00 pm in the chapel of SPINELLI-RICCIUTI FUNERAL HOME, 62 Beaver Street in Ansonia. On Monday, her funeral will begin at 12:30 pm from the funeral home then proceed to Holy Infant Church, 450 Racebrook Road in Orange for a Mass of Christian Burial at 1:30 pm. Burial will be private.
