John V. Graziano Funeral Home, Inc. Obituary

A devoted wife, mother and grandmother, Marie Joanne Scurci, 78, died unexpectedly on Dec. 15, 2020, at her home in Jeannette.

Born on Jan. 7, 1942, in Greensburg, she was a graduate of the Jeannette High School Class of 1959.

Married 59 years to her beloved husband, Ralph, she was a lifelong Christian who dedicated her time to the parish at Ascension Church where she was a member of the Rosary Altar Society.

A longtime bank employee, she enjoyed cooking, making desserts, getting her hair done in the company of friends at the salon, planting flowers, reading the newspaper and sharing stories of her time spent living in the state of California. It was there, and in western Pennsylvania, where she often followed her husband, a former pro golfer, around golf courses in numerous local and state tournaments.

Thoughtful and expressive, she was always there to offer help and prayer for those in need.

She had a collection of silk scarves and jewelry, and wore each to fit an occasion or time of year.

She had a fondness for angels and was always up on current events.

She also reveled in reliving youth and high school football memories of when her sons played for Jeannette. She was a longtime follower of the Jayhawks.

Perhaps nothing brought her more joy than the time she spent with her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Mary (Vische), and brother, Michael Forneris; her in-laws, Anthony and June Scurci; and brothers-in-law Louis and Dennis; nephew, Michael Forneris; and niece, Maria Forneris.

She is survived by her husband Ralph; two sons, Tony (Chris) and Ralph (Tracy); a daughter, Denise (Bill) Beckner; a brother-in-law, Jere Scurci (Tracy); five grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Due to covid-19 restrictions, a private viewing and service for immediate family only will be in the John V. Graziano Funeral Home in Jeannette. Memorial contributions may be made to the Ascension Church Memorial Fund, 615 Division Street Jeannette PA. 15644.01/07/1942

May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow.

Words cannot express how sad I was to hear about the passing of this wonderful woman. Joanne and Ralph were my St. Anthony Novena buddies. I used to ride them home from church. She always had a smile and a kind word for me, from the first time I met her in the Football Mother's Club in the early 80's. My prayers are with Ralph and her family. RIP Joanne, you were one of the best.

Our Deepest Sympathy. It was always so nice talking with JoAnn. May The Good Lord hold all of you in the Palm of His Hand at this very sad time! God bless all of you!
