Not sure what to say?

Marie, Marie, we are so sorry you have departed. Marie and I go back more than 50 years to when we used to meet for lunch at Babe's (now Old Ship Tavern), sharing glasses of wine in the middle of our busy workdays. Can we ever forget throwing ourselves a 40th birthday bash together, along with Carol, assembling a large crowd at Stern Grove to celebrate the milestone. So much over so many years. How we will miss her unique personality, insights and most of all humor.

My most sincere condolences to Marie's family, especially her sister-in-law Lois. I had the special pleasure of planning several Sacramento Seminar trips abroad with them and will include some photos. We shared great cultural experiences in Argentina, Chile, China, and Egypt. Those of us in Sacramento Seminar political salon will all miss her sense of adventure and thirst for knowledge. RIP dear Marie. Sherri Ferris

I got to know Marie when I was a young planner at SF Planning Department where she navigated the Department's political and public affairs issues. She was politically savvy with a great sense of humor, essential in SF poliitics. We stayed in touch with regular lunches during her subsequent planning career. We always had a great time. She and her humor and intelligence are missed.

I have known Snookie since we attended Church camp in Tonganoxie KS. Some years later she took me under her wing at Juniata College since we were the only ones from Kansas. I stayed in touch with her over the years. She was always vibrant, warm and lively--and a superb guide to San Francisco.

Condolences to Marie´s family and friends. She truly was a woman ahead of her times. Independent, accomplished, yet always warm and friendly.
