Mayfield, NY – Marilee Smykla, 56, of Mayfield, wife of Michael, passed away peacefully, while surrounded by her loving family, on Sunday, February 7, 2016, at Westchester medical Center in Valhalla, NY. She was born in Lowville, on January 30, 1960, a daughter of the late Robert and Barbara Fahey Maryhugh. Marilee worked as a teacher's aide for several Gloversville Elementary Schools and took great pride in educating children. She loved being around her family and friends and will be truly missed by all who knew her. Survivors include her beloved husband of 34 years, Mike Smykla, of Mayfield; sons Brandon and Shane Smykla, both of Mayfield; brothers, Mitch Maryhugh (Barbara), Mark Maryhugh (Colleen) and Matt Maryhugh (Nancy); and a sister, Michele Pirro (Steve). Marilee is also survived by several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister Melody Green, in 2012. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial service on Friday, February 19, at 1:00 P.M. at Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. 143 Schuyler St. Boonville, where Rev. Linda Logan, Rector of Trinity Episcopal Church, Boonville, will officiate. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Marilee's memory to St. John's Episcopal Church General Fund, 1 North Market St. Johnstown, NY 12095.
