Marilyn Jean Butt

Marilyn Jean (Swan) Butt, 65, of Portsmouth, VA, passed away Sunday, February 14, 2016 in Norfolk, VA. Marilyn was born in Easton, PA on February 13, 1951, a daughter of the late James and Margaret (Burns) Swan. Growing up, she helped her parents in the family store, where she learned the value of hard work and family. She was a 1969 graduate of Bangor High School. Later, she excelled at Wilson College where she met the love of her life, Duncan M. Butt, whom she married on June 7, 1973. Marilyn was a realtor by trade, a hostess by inclination and a sister to whoever needed one. In addition to her husband, Duncan, Marilyn is survived by a daughter, Margaret "Megan" Glover, one granddaughter Ella Glover, nieces, nephews, in-laws and friends abounding. She was preceded in death by her sister, Margaret "Peggy" Kostenbader. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 AM on Saturday, June 11th at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church, 436 S. Second Street, Bangor, PA.
